Delivering Equality of Opportunity in Schools (DEIS) is the Department of Education and Youth’s policy framework for supporting children and young people who are at risk of educational disadvantage and for promoting educational inclusion, equity and improved outcomes for all learners.

At Scoil Mhuire, our DEIS Action Plan for Improvement (September 2026 – June 2029) forms an integral part of our School Self-Evaluation (SSE) and Whole School Improvement Planning processes. The plan has been developed through consultation with pupils, staff, parents and the wider school community and is informed by a range of evidence including pupil achievement, attendance, wellbeing and engagement data.

Our DEIS Action Plan identifies the key priorities, targets and actions that will support improved outcomes for all pupils, with a particular focus on those who may be at risk of educational disadvantage. Through evidence-informed practice, effective teaching and learning, and strong partnerships with families and the community, we aim to ensure that every child is supported to reach their full potential.

The plan is aligned with the Department of Education and Youth’s DEIS Strategy to 2035 and reflects our ongoing commitment to inclusion, wellbeing, attendance, literacy, numeracy, learner engagement and high-quality educational experiences for all pupils.

Our identified priorities are reviewed regularly through the School Self-Evaluation process to monitor progress, evaluate impact and ensure that our actions continue to meet the evolving needs of our pupils and school community.
